How do I use the Text-Based Editing (Trim by Speech) feature in CyberLink PowerDirector 365?
PowerDirector 365 (version released after Sep. 2024) supports the AI-Powered Text-Based Editing (Trim by Speech) feature that allows you to trim clips, leaving only the speech and generating text from the speech, with just a few clicks.
To use this feature, do this:
- Double-click on a video/audio clip with speech on the timeline, and then click the Text-Based Editing tool in the Edit > Video > Tools panel (for video clips) or in the Edit > Audio panel (for audio clips).
- Select a language1 and then click Generate. The AI tool will automatically analyze the audio to mark the segments where pauses are and generate the text from the speech. The feature consumes credits per use.2
- On the timeline of the feature window, the pauses are marked with blue masks, and the subtitles are generated on the segments with speech. In the generated transcription, the pauses are marked with blue [---] symbols.
- You can click the pause symbols in the generated transcription and then choose to Remove (or you can remove all the pauses with the Remove all pauses button) or Unmark them. Also, you can modify or delete the text to fine-tune the result if required.
- Click Add to timeline to add the result3 on the project timeline.

Note:
- Supported languages: English, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Korean, Portuguese.
- Text-Based Editing (Trim by Speech) is a credit-based feature. It consumes credits based on the length of your source clips for marking the pauses and text generation. If your current credits are insufficient, you can click the Get Credits button in the feature window to purchase additional credits.
- For the marked pauses, if you do not remove them in the feature window, they will still show on the project timeline when you add the result.
