What is the difference between PowerVCR II and my VHS tape recorder (VCR)?
PowerVCR II is designed to replace the VCR by using the PC as the home digital video center. The files recorded by PowerVCR II are digital MPEG files, and the advantages of digital files are that video quality can be stored and maintained permanently on hard disc or recordable CD. Digital files offer all of the advantages that a computer has, allowing you to easily cut and merge recorded video to remove unwanted portions. The VCR only provides analog signals that make it tough to edit VHS tapes, which usually requires going to a professional video production house. PowerVCR II can also access television programming information from Internet Electronic Programming Guides in addition to preset recording capabilities just like a VCR.
