Do I need a special player to playback the files generated by PowerEncoder?

If you want view the encoded files generated in PowerEncoder, you can do that on the computer where PowerEncoder is installed. You can either use the Media Viewer in PowerEncoder or use your Windows Media Player.

However, if you send the encoded file to a friend and he/she does not have PowerEncoder installed on the PC, it may not work. This is because he/she does not have the right decoder, which is needed to read the file. To combat this, and if he/she has PowerDVD on the PC, an option it to purchase the PowerDVD Deluxe or Ultra from our website, which is fully compatible with the program.

Also, if you want to play the file back on a standalone DVD player it also has to be compatible with MPEG4.
