How do I use Karaoke mode in CyberLink PowerDVD 23/365?

CyberLink PowerDVD 23 (Ultra/Pro edition or the 365 subscription version) now supports Karaoke mode1, using AI technology to isolate the vocal part of music or music videos, so you can sing along with the song during the playback2. It also offers recording feature to let you record a cover version.

To use the feature, do this:

  1. Launch PowerDVD, and start music video playback.
  2. Click on the Karaoke button to enter the vocal-removed3 karaoke playback mode.
  3. The rolled out menu contains the button to let you record your singing. Click the button to adjust the volume of the music, key (pitch) level, and the lead singing volume respectively, if required.
  4. Once you stop recording, a preview dialog will display to let you preview the singing.
  5. Adjust the volume of the music, vocals, and the audio synchronization4 between the recorded microphone audio and the background music, if required.
  6. Click Save to save your audio recording.

Note

  1. A CPU that supports AVX2 technology is required to operate the AI-assisted Karaoke mode, and a microphone is required to record the audio.
  2. Karaoke mode is not supported for video discs, disk images (ISO), and disc folder playback.
  3. The vocal isolation (removal) result is through AI processing but is not 100% accurate. The removal works better if the audio you play does not contain complicated audio or track mixing.
  4. The default synchronization time is 0.04 second, which is the average audio recording and processing latency that might occur between the collaboration of audio recording device (microphone) and audio playback output in the Windows OS.
