How do I apply a mask to my clips in the quick editing panel or in Advanced Mask Editing in CyberLink PowerDirector 365 ?

In the new version of PowerDirector 365 (released after May 2024), the Mask Designer has been redesigned and moved to the "Mask" tab on the top of the quick editing panel.

To apply mask in the timeline, please do this:

  1. Select a media clip in the timeline.
  2. Click Edit to open quick editing panel.
  3. Switch to the Mask tab and then choose a mask. Or you can create a custom mask by clicking to import an image file.
  4. Modify the settings (e.g., Position, Rotation, etc.) if required.

If you want to use the former Advanced Mask Editing dialog (Mask Designer), you can click "Advanced" to open it.

In the PowerDirector 365 version released after July 2024, the Advanced Mask Editing has also been redesigned. The new Advanced Mask Editing edit panel is now separated into two tabs: Preset and Custom.

  • Preset: You can apply a preset mask, and further edit its Position, Scale, Opacity, Rotation, etc.
  • Custom: You can apply a custom mask, modify the current custom mask, or create a new one with Brush, Polygon, Text or Image.

To learn more about adding masks, please refer to CyberLink Online Help Portal.

Note:

In the new Advanced Mask Editing window, the following options have been removed because of the decreased usage:

  • The Motion tab. You can still add position keyframes to create the motion of the mask.
  • The preview window zoom in/out buttons. You can still select the options in the viewer zoom menu on the playback control bar, or hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard and then use your mouse's scroll wheel to zoom in/out.
  • The top menu bar.
