Why does a file created by PowerCinema have the extension "plt"?

The plt means "Playlist". Because Windows XP can not handle files larger than 4GB, PowerCinema will automatically save and chunk your video files into 2GB files (which are connected as a single playlist). When you select the appropriate playlist for playback, all the files are played continuously.
