General troubleshooting for installing or uninstalling CyberLink PhotoDirector 4.
Symptom
CyberLink has a cleaner tool, that can resolve most of installation issues you may face. The error messages listed below may occur during installation can be resolved with CyberLink Cleaner Tool: :
- Error: The product definition file lost.
- Error 1402. Could not open key.
- Error 1603. A fatal error occurred during installation.
- Error 1612. The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and you can access it.
- Error 1706. Setup cannot find the required files.
- Error: Can't load SKUtil.dll.
- Error: Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.
Solution
Note that there are two common installation issues you may face. You should use correct version of CLCleaner to resolve installation issues. Follow the below guideline to determine which version of CLCleaner you should use.
Scenario 1: You weren't successful in installing the "full or patched version"of PhotoDirector 4. To fix this, please use [CLCleaner-PhotoDirector_4].
Scenario 2: If you can't install an "upgrade version" of PhotoDirector 4, you should use [CLCleaner2-PhotoDirector_3.exe] or [CLCleaner2-PhotoDirector_2011.exe] depending on which base version of PhotoDirector you have installed (are upgrading from).

- Download CLCleaner tool for PhotoDirector 4.
- Download CLCleaner tool for PhotoDirector 3.
- Download CLCleaner tool for PhotoDirector 2011 or earlier versions
If the CLCleaner still cannot solve your issue, continue with the following troubleshooting steps:
- Remove CyberLink PhotoDirector version 4 and previous version from Control Panel:
1. Quit PhotoDirector programs, if it is running.
2. In Control Panel, open Add or Remove Programs.
3. Select CyberLink PhotoDirector from the list of currently installed programs, then click Remove.
4. After the program is uninstalled, restart your computer.
- Or try manually removing CyberLink PhotoDirector 4 and any previous version's folder from Program Files:
1. Go to C:\Program Files\CyberLink\
2. Delete the CyberLink PhotoDirector 4 folder and previous version's folder.
3. If you cannot delete the folder, try the following steps:
a. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc at the same time to access the Task Manager
b. Switch to the Process tab
c. Delete related processes which are running in the background.
For example: Process for PhotoDirector 4 and previous version may be called PhotoDirector4.exe, and PhotoDirectorCDP4.exe...etc.
d. Go back to C:\Program Files\CyberLink\
e. And delete the PhotoDirector 4 and previous version folder again.
4. Restart your computer.
