How do I add video effects to a motion object in a video in CyberLink ColorDirector 2026/365 using the Object Tracking Effect tool?
CyberLink ColorDirector 2026/365 (released after Sept. 2025) supports the Object Tracking Effect tool. It allows you to select and track a moving object in a video using AI technology, and applies effects to the tracked object within a few clicks.
Follow these steps to use the Object Tracking Effect* tool in a video:
- Add a video to the storyboard.
- Select the video clip on the storyboard and then click the Object Tracking Effect button on the top feature bar.
- Single click on any object in your video in the preview area in the Object Tracking Effect window.
- After clicking, the tracking tool will help you detect and select the outline of the motion object automatically in the video via AI recognition process.
- If the auto detection and initial selection does not fit the object entirely, you can click on non-selected areas to fine tune the selection.
- Click on Track Object to start tracking. The tracking process might take some time to complete, depending on the duration of your video.
- After tracking, preview the tracking result, or click Reset to reset and select another object for tracking from scratch, if required.
- Click Next, and the effects, which are available to apply to the tracked object, will show in the Object Tracking Effect panel.
- Select an effect to apply it on the tracked object, and then click Export to get the effect-applied video.
Note:
* To use the tracking feature, a CPU that supports the AVX2 instruction set is required. To learn more about the system requirements of ColorDirector, please check the requirements FAQ.
