How do I use Motion Tracker to track a object position in CyberLink PowerDirector 365 and 17 or later versions?

PowerDirector supports the function to track a motion object frame by frame in Motion Tracker.

In the new version of PowerDirector 365 (released after Apr. 2025), the Motion Tracker has been redesigned and moved to the "Tracking" tab on the top of the quick editing panel.

To use the feature in PowerDirector 365, do this:

1. Add the video you want to edit (whether blurring an object or tracking an element) to the timeline.
2-1. For blurring, go to Effects Room > Video Effects and find the Blur or Mosaic effect under Haze or Texture tags, then apply it to the video.
2-2. For attaching another object (e.g., sticker, title, image), drag that object to a lower track beneath the video.
3. Open Effect Settings (for effects) and select a rectangle or circle effect mask, or go to Edit > Tracking tab (for objects).
4. Enable the Apply Motion Tracking option
5. A yellow tracking box will then display in the preview window. Drag and resize this box to fit over the element in your video that you want to track (e.g., a moving person or item).
6. Adjust the position and size of the object in the preview window if needed.
7. Click the Track button to start the motion tracking process.
8. After tracking, check the preview window to see if the object you added in step 2 is following the video element the way you expect.

 

To use the Motion Tracker feature in PowerDirector 17 or later versions (except PowerDirector 365 released after Apr. 2025), do this:

1. Click on the target video on the timeline > Edit > Motion Tracker.
2. Drag the selection box to mark the object.
3. Click Track button to start motion tracking.
4. After tracking, you can add title, media clip or effect to the tracked object in the Motion Tracker tool.

Note:

1. You can use the hotkey "Ctrl+M" to implement the feature to do precise object tracking in Motion Tracker.
2. To apply Motion Tracker to a section, trim your video clips on the timeline or set "Mark in" and "Mark out" points in Motion Tracker before clicking the Track button.
