How do I use layer masks in CyberLink PhotoDirector 365?

Layer masks help you create a masked layer in a shape from an object (e.g. rectangle, eclipse, an image with transparent areas, custom selected area, etc.). 

For instance, to create a layer mask in a custom shape, and then add it on your image or layer in the Expert module, do this:

1. Click Edit on PhotoDirector launcher, and then select a photo to edit in the Expert module. 
2. The photo you selected will be the background image, so that you can add a layer mask onto the image.
3. Click to add a new empty layer from Layers panel, and then click  (Select area tool) to draw a custom selection area in a shape that you will use to create layer mask. 
4. After you completing the selection, click (Fill tool), and then fill in the selected area with any solid color you prefer.
5. Right click on the layer/image you added in step 2, select Create Layer Mask, click From Other Layer, and then select the layer you created at step 3 to create a Layer Mask.
6. Right click on the layer you added at step 3, and then select Delete to remove the layer.
7. The layer mask* will be added to clip the layer/image you selected.
   
   

Tip:
* You can save and reuse the layer mask you created by saving it as a PNG photo. To save the layer mask as a PNG photo, right click on the layer mask you created -> then select Save Layer Mask. The PNG mask photo can be loaded to clip other images you edit next time in PhotoDirector.
