What can I do if U Messenger displays an error message when binding an e-mail account in U Messenger PC or Mac version?
When U Messenger PC or Mac version displays the error messages “The account binding is invalid”, “The e-mail has been used” or “The e-mail account doesn’t exist” during the U Messenger account binding process, please follow the steps below to resolve the problem.
- After U Messenger PC or Mac version is launched, sign in with the QR code or phone number of your current U Messenger.
- The U Messenger account binding dialog will display. In the dialog, click “Create Account” to use an e-mail address that is different from your current U Messenger account e-mail address, to create a new account.
- Check the new account e-mail address and then find the account verification e-mail to verify your e-mail address.
- Launch U Messenger PC or Mac version and then use the new created e-mail account to bind with your U Messenger.
In the step 2, if you are a Gmail user, you can use the trick of adding a (+) sign after your e-mail address to create a Gmail alias of your primary e-mail address. For example, if your Gmail is UMessenger@gmail.com, you can use the Gmail alias UMessenger+CustomerSupport@gmail.com as the new e-mail to create a new U account. You can still receive e-mail with your primary e-mail address without changing any Gmail settings or configurations.
Your current U Messenger contacts and chat history will remain after you bind the e-mail address with U Messenger. If there is still a problem binding your e-mail address with U Messenger, please contact the support team.
