What is the difference between the playback behavior of DVD and VCD disc?

Navigating a DVD disc is very easy, you simply use the arrow commands on your remote to select a menu item. Pressing the "Enter" button will start playback of that chapter. During playback, the "Previous" and "Next" buttons allow you to change chapters.

Navigating a VCD disc is slightly more tedious. At the menu, the user needs to select a number on his remote to access that item (press "1" for first item, and so on). During playback, pressing the "Previous" or "Next" buttons usually send the user back to the menu page.
