How do I create System Recovery Discs/USB Drives in CyberLink Power2Go (version 12 or above)?
The System Recovery feature of Power2Go (version 12 or above) supports backing up your Windows OS computer on Blu-ray/DVD discs or on a removable USB storage in Utilities > System Recovery on Disc or System Recovery on USB Drive tools.
To use the System Recovery feature, you need to first install the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK) in advance depending on your Windows versions by the following steps:
For Windows 10:
- Go to the Microsoft website to download the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK):
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/get-started/adk-install - Download and install the Windows ADK depending on your Windows 10 version (e.g. version 1703, 1709, etc.)
- For Windows 10 version 1809 or above, please download and install the Windows PE add-on additionally.
For Windows 8.1, 8, 7, download and install the Windows ADK (a.k.a. Windows AIK in Windows 7) from below links:
Windows 8.1: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39982
Windows 8: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30652
Windows 7: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5753
When Windows ADK and the Windows PE add-on* are installed** , open Power2Go and follow the steps below to burn system recovery discs.
- Select the Utilities option and then select System Recovery on Disc.
- Follow the instructions in the system recovery wizard to complete the burning process.
In addition to disc burning, if you want to create a system recovery on a removable USB storage, please do this:
- Connect the removable USB storage drive to computer.
- Select the Utilities option and then select System Recovery on USB Drive.
- Select the USB storage drive*** you want to create the system recovery.
- Follow the instructions in the system recovery wizard to complete the creation process.
Note:
* Windows PE add-on is only required to install additionally on Windows 10 version 1809 or above versions.
** If the Power2Go program cannot detect your installed ADK location properly, please select <Program Files>\Windows Kits\10\Assessment and Deployment Kits\Windows Preinstallation Environment\amd64\en-us\winpe.wim in the Burn Recovery Disc final step. If you are using 64bit version Windows, then select <Program Files (x86)> \Windows Kits\10\Assessment and Deployment Kits\Windows Preinstallation Environment\amd64\en-us\winpe.wim.
*** To create the system recovery on a removable USB storage drive, all of your personal data originally stored on the USB drive will be completely deleted/formatted. The data deletion is an unrecoverable action. You are advised to back up the data in advance if you want to use the USB storage drive as the system recovery disk.
