Do I need to upgrade my CyberLink software so that it is compatible with the latest Windows versions?

Microsoft has now announced that as of January 10, 2023 it will no longer provide technical support for Windows 8.1, following the ceasing of support for Windows 7 and 8 previously. As a result, many major PC hardware manufacturers have also announced their end of support for these versions of Windows for their products (e.g., Intel, NVIDIA, etc.).

As a result of the technical maintenance and security updates for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 ending, it is unfortunately no longer feasible for CyberLink to maintain the required security and multimedia feature compatibility within our products. Therefore we must cease technical support in all new versions of CyberLink software (e.g., Director Suite, PowerDirector, PowerDVD, PhotoDirector, YouCam, etc.), including any future patch-updated versions released after January 2023, for these versions of Windows.

As a result of this change, for users who are still using older Windows OS versions (e.g. Windows 7, Windows 8.1), to ensure you have the best multimedia features and web-related feature compatibility, we suggest you upgrade your software to versions compatible with Windows 10 and above, and use it on newer Windows (Windows 10 or above) platforms.

If the Windows upgrade is not an option for your platform due to incompatible/old hardware, etc., you can continue using our software on old Windows systems. However, the software features of CyberLink products could be limited because of the aforementioned end of support, particularly for web-related features due to the lack of Internet security in previous Windows OS versions.

If you have further concerns about this change, please contact CyberLink Customer Service for assistance.
