I can no longer browse CyberLink websites or activate my software via an Internet connection on my old Windows OS (e.g., Windows XP, Windows Vista). What can I do?
TLS (Transport Layer Security) is a widely-used technology on the Internet that helps protect the Internet connection of your PC and devices, and protects any data that is transmitted over the Internet from unauthorized cracking or hacking.
CyberLink has adopted the latest TLS technology (TLS 1.2 and above) for all Internet related services and software features to better protect the data for all of our product users.
However, for the Internet connection compatibility with legacy Windows OS platforms (e.g., Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 (Service Pack 1 update not installed)) that do not support the newer TLS protection, CyberLink kept the old TLS 1.0 and 1.1 connection compatibility previously to let all our users migrate to newer Windows OS versions during the transition period.
Because the old TLS 1.0/1.1 security protection is outdated technology, which cannot provide sufficient enough protection for Internet security, from August 2022, CyberLink needs to completely terminate the use of the TLS 1.0/1.1 technology for all of our websites and software features that require an Internet connection.
As a result of this change, users who still use the old/legacy Windows OS platforms (e.g., Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 (Service Pack 1 update not installed)), which do not support TLS 1.2 or above technology for Internet connections, can no longer browse our websites or activate their software via the Internet.
We suggest you browse our websites and install and use our software (that is compatible with newer Windows OS versions) on platforms using the latest Windows OS versions that support TLS 1.2 or above Internet connection security technology (e.g., Windows 10).
For Windows 7 users, if your Windows 7 is still not updated to the Service Pack 1 (SP1) version, you can enable the TLS 1.2 Internet connection support by download/installing the SP1 update and the related Windows updates from the Microsoft website.
For users who are still using older Windows OS versions (e.g. Windows XP, Windows Vista), we suggest you install our software on newer Windows OS platforms to activate the software and use Internet related features. Please note that if the version of your CyberLink software is not compatible with newer Windows OS (e.g., PowerDirector 12 and below versions are not compatible with Windows 10 or above versions), to continue using our software on new Windows OS platforms, you are advised to purchase newer versions of the software that are compatible with the latest Windows versions.
