What can I do and not do with the works produced with PowerDirector, PhotoDirector and Promeo? Can I use the works for commercial purpose?

This FAQ lists some use scenarios of what you can and cannot do with the works produced with PowerDirector, PhotoDirector and Promeo.

What you can do

• Upload the works to YouTube and enable monetization
• Upload the works to social media platforms to promote your products or services
• Upload the works to your website to introduce your company or products
• Show the works in public, such as an exhibition, to introduce your products or services
• Use in an online class video without charging the audience
• Sell still images produced with PhotoDirector without using the "Video to Photo" function to get the source images

No matter if your works contain CyberLink templates or third-party stock media, such as Soundstripe Music or Getty Image content, you can use your works for the above purposes without the need to contact 3rd parties for additional licensing.

Subject to the scenarios mentioned above, unless otherwise expressly authorized in the CyberLink’s End User License Agreements (EULAs), CyberLink does not grant any rights nor make any warranty that the Work can be used for any commercial purpose.
 
However, please be aware that there are some restrictions to using the templates or third party media. For example, you shall not use the Media Content in any illegal, public performance or immoral manner. For more details, please refer to the following End User License Agreements (EULAs).

What you cannot do

• Sell your works produced from PowerDirector or Promeo as a source of direct revenue
• Sell licensing of your works as a source of direct revenue
• Print works containing templates or third party stock media as hard copies
• Use in an online class video that charges audiences as the sole source of direct revenue
• Violate the restrictions for using the templates or third-party media as outlined in the EULA
• Use the "Video to Photo" function to get the source images and then sell the still images with or without editing in PhotoDirector as a source of direct revenue.

If you are going to use the software for direct revenue-generating purposes or to serve as a main source of direct revenue, then you have to contact video codec third-parties to get additional licenses from third-party technologies. The details can be found in the EULA.

How about AI generated materials in my works?

For the media that are edited or generated with AI related features, the edited media exported belong to users.

However, the intellectual property of the original media you selected to edit depend on your media content provider's licensing (if you are not the author/copyright owner). CyberLink cannot answer your concern about the intellectual property on the owner's behalf.

For instance, if you use the AI Image Generator to generate an image that looks very "similar", but is not identical to an IP-protected content (e.g., Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) via some custom text prompts in the AI Image Generator, the generated content is owned by you. However, it might not be appropriate to use for monetization purposes regardless of what CyberLink claims.
