How do I use the Auto Ripple Editing button to trim or remove clips in the timeline in CyberLink PowerDirector 365?
In the new version of PowerDirector 365 (released after Aug. 2025), PowerDirector adds a new Auto Ripple Editing button
to improve the efficiency of ripple editing in the timeline, i.e. without the need to select a ripple editing option every time media clips are trimmed or removed in the timeline..
When the option is enabled (icon turns blue
), manually adjusting the duration of a media clip will automatically trim the clip and move all other clips correspondingly to the relative positions.
When the option is disabled (icon turns white
), adjusting the duration of media clip will only trim the clip, leaving a gap, and all the other clips in the timeline will not be affected.
If you want the original ripple editing options to appear when trimming or removing a media clip in the timeline, you are advised to go to PowerDirector Preferences > Editing page and then disable the “Enable auto ripple editing for remove/trim” first.
